At the Sheila Ferrari Dyslexia Centre we assess, teach and support children and adults with dyslexia and associated Specific Learning Difficulties. Following the decision of our current Head of Centre to retire after many years of leadership, we are seeking an inspirational individual to lead us in the next phase of our development.

Head of Centre

Qualifications and Experience

– OCR Level 7 Diploma or equivalent, with APC (or experienced OCR Level 5 Diploma willing to train for Level 7)
– Membership of an appropriate professional body e.g. Patoss
– Experience of working one-to-one with individuals with dyslexia and associated Specific Learning Differences
– Experience in managing a team, preferably in an educational setting
– QTS desirable, other relevant professional qualifications will be considered

Knowledge, skills and abilities

– Excellent verbal communication and IT skills
– Excellent organisational and time management skills
– Ability to motivate and enthuse pupils (this job includes a teaching and assessment role)
– Able to respond to the needs of a wide and varied client base

Personal qualities

– Committed to raising dyslexia awareness in order to improve outcomes for individuals with dyslexia, their families and those who support them in education and the workplace
– Innovative and keen to explore the further potential of the Centre
– Flexible and adaptable with a good sense of humour
