Head of Centre

Accountable to: The Directors of The Sheila Ferrari Dyslexia Centre Ltd.

As Head of Centre you will have responsibility for managing all aspects of the day to day running of the Centre and for spearheading our further development. You will be supported by an experienced team including our Deputy Head of Centre.

Key responsibilities include

– To maintain a centre of excellence, in line with the guidelines and expectations of the Council for the Recognition of Specialist Teaching for Dyslexic Students
– To ensure provision of high-quality specialist education for our students (children and adults)
– To safeguard and promote the welfare of children in line with current legislation
– To manage the Centre team which comprises, tutors, assessors and administration and support staff.
– To oversee our specialist tutors who deliver one-to-one tuition to approximately 70 students per week, drawn from a wide number of schools in the area; this includes working occasional Saturday mornings for which time will be given in lieu
– To maintain a system by which the progress of Centre students is monitored
– To liaise with Deputy Head of Centre, who oversees our assessment team
– To ensure the Centre operates in line with Health and Safety requirements
– To support tutors and assessors in their professional development, including annual appraisals and lesson observations, encouraging creativity and sharing of best practice
– To promote the Centre in the wider community
– To develop links with, and promote our services to schools
– To undertake any additional responsibilities and duties which may reasonably be required by the Centre e.g. occasional special events such as parent information mornings
