Introduction

Introduction from The Head

In 1982 Sheila Ferrari opened a Dyslexia Clinic at Avon House School. As the work of the Clinic was established it grew into what it became known as the Avon House Dyslexia Centre.

In 2013, to celebrate more than 30 years of the Centre’s work and in honour of its founder, it was renamed The Sheila Ferrari Dyslexia Centre (SFDC).

Currently, the Centre provides Specialist Assessments and tuition for students with SPLD plus Teacher Training to OCR Levels 5 & 7.

We also offer counselling and therapy for children and consultations for parents covering a wide range of issues regarding home and school.

Access to other professionals including an Educational Therapist, a Speech and Language Therapist and an Occupational Therapist, is also available.

The Centre provides a General tuition finding service for 11+, Common Entrance, French GCSE, English and Maths Catch-up.

There is a homework club, a Parent Forum and support for local SENCOs.

We look forward to welcoming you to our Centre of Excellence.
